Vegas Deals Cheap Hotel Rates For 2009

I was looking for a bit of interesting news to write about for hotels, something other than the same old economy is bad and no one is traveling right now or for the foreseeable future for that matter. Well it’s the upcoming future that I though I would talk about because I did see one of only a handful of articles trying to put a positive spin on the upcoming year and the outlook for hotels and travel.

Here is the original article that I saw today. Basically they are trying to put a positive spin on the fact that hotels are planning on being pretty empty for 2009 and that means that there will be some great deals to be had. I don’t think that this really comes as a news flash to anyone out there. Anyway the top destinations to look for these must have deals at least in the US are in the cities of Las Vegas, Miami, New York, DC and Hawaii.

Of those five places there is one place that struck me as a surprise destination over another city in that very same state and that was Miami. I would of thought that of all the places to visit in the state of Florida I think Orlando would have been the top destination. I would go to Disney World before the beaches of Miami but I guess that’s just me.

I totally agree with the selection of Las Vegas as being one of the best place to find some great deals for hotels. Even when the economy was not in the toilet there were still great hotel deals to be had in Las Vegas. Especially since every time you turn around they are either tearing down or putting up a brand new hotel on the strip.

What other cities in the US do you think will be hot spots for great hotel deals in 2009? I think 2009 hotel numbers will be much the same as 2008 and they will remain down for the year. I know just in my family we may be planning only one family trip this year where we may be staying in a hotel. Other wise we are planning our trips around places where we already have friends or family to stay with.
